about us

your host and guide jui Somchai Phetrophat, nicknamed Jui, was born in 1974 in a village of Nopphitam District in the north of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Here he grew up with xx older and xx younger brothers and sisters. In this vicinity he also visited all the schools and eventually graduated from high school. Because of his excellent performance at school, his teachers convinced him and his family to further his educatuion in Bangkok. So Jui took up his studies in Political Science and Public Administration at Ramkhamhaeng University, from which he graduated in 19xx as Bachelor of xyz in xyz.

To finance his studies and living in Bangkok, Jui started to work in the hospitalty industry. He took up a job as a waiter at the Centara Grand Hotel Bangkok. After graduation he continued to work at Centara Grand Hotel, meanwhile as Captain in the Italian Restaurant Don Giovanni. Then Jui moved to Kho Samui, to work for the Le Royal Meridian Hotel, followed by a contract at The Evason Resort & Spa on Phuket.

Eventually Jui got the chance of his childhood dream: to board an aircraft and fly away to foreign countries as he used to say as a small boy, when he saw a jetliner in the sky - one day I will be on such a plane and fly away. Now his experience in the hospitality industry took him on board of a cruise ship in the Carribbean Sea. Then a stay of five years in Irland followed, where Jui worked again as a waiter for a Thai Restaurant, and eventually for The Purple Ocean Restaurant, before the unexpected happened: on a holiday trip to Switzerland in October 2008 Jui met Mark. A long-distance relationship started until Jui moved to Switzerland in October 2009. Now he learned the German language and found eventually a part time job as a waiter at the leading 4*S hotel in Thun.

Jui and Mark committed themselves to the civil union according to Swiss law and celebrated their civil union officially in November 2009 at the Castle of Schadau in Thun. Since then they live at Mark's home in the first floor flat, together with Mark's mother, who still lives in the groundfloor flat.

your host mark Markus Keller, nicknamed Mark, was born in 1955 near his current home in Heimberg. What is now Jui's Homestay, is his childhood home, which was built by his paternal grandfather in 1924. Here at this very place he grew up together with his younger sister. Mark went to school at Heimberg before he started an apprenticeship in 1971 as a draughtsman (machine design). After a few years of practical experience in his profession, Mark decided to take up the studies in mechanical engineering at the Bern University of Applied Science in nearby Bern. He graduated in 1984 as Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, followed by a six months stay in England to advance his skills of the English language. Back from England Mark started to work for a large company based in Thun as a design engineer. Aditional studies in computer aided design and manufacturing followed. Today Mark is responsible for operations, maintenance and applied development of a computer aided design system as well as project management and staff training. Since the end of 1984 he is working for the same company.

Ever since he left school, Mark liked to travel. He visited many countries throughout Europe, Africa and Asia, as well as Australia. In Asia he spent most of his time in Thailand. So there was a common base, when Mark met Jui on his holiday trip to Switzerland in the fall season of 2008. Now Mark became a regular visitor of Ireland until Jui moved to Switzerland. Together they discover the obvious and hidden beauties of Switzerland, which led to the idea to show those treasures to other people as well.
